15 things to do in Nablus if you are a newcomer

During a research on the internet to find interesting things to be done in Jordan, I found this amazing article about 10 things that can be done in Amman without spending more than 10 JD, this article illustrates very ordinary activities for most of people living in Amman but it is a real treasure for any newcomer to the city since you can't find this kind of "real life" city activities in the usual tourism tours which focuses on the fancy hotels and expensive tours. Yesterday I shared this article with a very close friend then it came to our minds to create our version of this article, of course this version will focus on Nablus, which is one of the most important cities in Palestine. Nablus is a city with a great and sophisticated history that can be felt when you walk in it and it has its own traditions which explains the uniqueness of the city.
This list will not focus on the costs of the activities since most of them really don't cost much and of course I'm really looking for your opinions and additions since I'm not originally from Nablus "I'm living in Nablus" and I just know a few things about it.

1-Visit the Nablus Bazaar (AlKhan) which is the heart of the old city of Nablus, It is an old bazaar than contains shops that sells almost everything with good prices.

2-Visit Bab Alsahah (Minaret square) in the old city of Nablus where you can see Alnsr Mosque and the Turkish-era clock which was established in the reign of the Ottoman sultan Abdulhamid II.

3- Eat the Nabulsi Konafah which is the most famous Arab dessert from the well-known sweets shops like Alaqsa sweets in the old city on Nablus "where you can see the process of making it in front of you", Damascus sweets in Sufyan street and Bawabat-Albaik sweets in Rafedia.

4-Visit the old mosques in Nablus especially the Hanbali mosque and Alsalahe mosque.

5- Have a local and delicious breakfast at Furen Mona if you want to try the Palestinian pastries or Ajaj Restaurant "Try its famous Oja" or Palestine restaurant. "If you want to eat Homos and Falafel".

6-Visit Sama Nablus, a park on Ebal Mountain which has a wonderful view of Nablus and Garzim Mountain which lays in opposite of Ebal, Go to it before the sunset so you can enjoy the view and stay to see Nablus at night. The view of Nablus at night is really something that will be remembered forever.

7-Visit the historical olive oil soap workshops in the old city of Nablus like Touqan, Shakaa and Nabulsi workshops.

8-Visit the old Turkish baths in Nablus especially in winter "Alhana bath is really famous".

9-Try Tamriya, Zalabiya and Halawa (Famous sweets in Nablus), Harbi and Titi Workshops in the old city of Nablus are very famous.

10-Drink Tamer-Hindi, Kharoub and Sous (Oriental Sweet drinks) from Abu-shaqdam in the old city of Nablus or Rafedia.

11-Take a walk in Rafedia street at night, It might be crowded but still, It's really a nice thing to be done especially if you are after a good dinner or in a mood of having some Kofanah :)

12-Visit the church of Jacob's well which is one of the most important historical sites in Nablus and Palestine.

13-Visit Wadi Albadan for swimming and having a BBQ near the water.

14- Visit one of the old coffee shops in Nablus for Arjeela and coffee. (Alhamouz Coffee shop is really famous).

15- Take a walk in one on the many side streets in Nablus in order to escape the traffic jam and see the city by your own perspective especially if you choose a street that is high in altitude and has a good view, try this in a spring or autumn afternoon.
